KSHE KLASSICS SHOW, May 19th, 2019

Quotation Of The Week ~ Grumpy Cat: Don't be a racist. Hate everyone.

[As you may or may not know, i live in Canada, and for some reason KSHE doesn't stream their audio to here and i have to connect via a VPN, to spoof a non-Canadian address. This week, according to https://whatismyipaddress.com/ i was listening from Clifton, New Jersey.]

My faithful reader will have noticed, no doubt with a certain wistfulness combined with righteous anger, that i wasn't here last week. Last Sunday was Mother's Day – the busiest day of the year in my industry and of course i had to work. Well, naturally it ruined my entire week, but i expect and accept it every year. I do have to get special permission from the Archbishop Of Canterbury and he's always pretty good about it, but Lord, the paperwork....

If last week's show was anything like this week's, my missing it is even more regrettable, as i'm grading this week's an A+ for sure. The inclusion of songs by Mama's Pride and Dan Fogelberg pretty much guarantee that anyway, but the show would have merited an A+ regardless: a lot of much-loved music and not a single annoying song.

Incidentally, KSHE listeners once voted Mama's Pride's “Blue Mist” the greatest classic rock song of all time. I wouldn't go that far; in fact i don't even think it's their greatest song, but man, it's a good 'un.

Speaking of ruined weeks, as i was, up there somewhere, my week was further ruined by the sad passing of Tardar Sauce, a.k.a. Grumpy Cat, at the age of 7.

KSHE KLASSICS SHOW, May 5th, 2019

Quotation Of The Week ~ Mark Twain: Politicians and diapers must be changed often, and for the same reason.

[As you may or may not know, i live in Canada, and for some reason KSHE doesn't stream their audio to here and i have to connect via a VPN, to spoof a non-Canadian address. This week, according to https://whatismyipaddress.com/ i was listening from – are you ready for this? -- Obufa Esuk Orok, in the Cross River region of Nigeria. Wow, i've never been to Africa before!]

It's very difficult to know what to say about this week's program. It was kinda frustrating.

Just from a technical viewpoint, it was far from ideal. I don't know if the problems were with my local machine or with the radio station, but the audio stream kept failing, and i missed a good part of at least two songs. Further, KSHE's home page usually shows what's currently playing, a boon for me when i don't know the song. But not always – it took me nearly five minutes of Googling (more precisely, Duckduckgoing) to identify the Batdorf & Rodney song, and they mis-labelled at least two tracks.

As for the music, if not for the Dan Fogelberg track and a few others, i don't think i could have graded it higher than a B. The Ray Manzarek and REO Speedwagon tracks were awful. There were certainly a few songs that would be in my top 500 favourites list and The Eagles' song is probably in the top 100, so with those and Dan it gets A+

Here's the playlist, but first, Nigeria's flag.... A bit of a yawn, really.
