Quotation du jour ~ Unknown: I
told my dad that I wanted to be a musician when I grew up and he said
"Son, you can't do both."
I was listening from San Francisco this
morning and, although it was a hassle-free listening experience (no
connection dropouts or crashes of any kind), it nearly didn't happen
thanks to one of my frequent technology nightmares. The details are
irrelevant to this post; suffice to say that, with a great deal of
time & frustration on Saturday evening, i managed to sort it all
out. (I also discovered that the only place in Stratford that sells
computer equipment after 6 p.m. on Saturdays is Wal-Mart* – I'll
bet that's not the case in San Francisco!)
Since KSHE was bought by Hubbard Radio
a month or so ago, i have noticed a major change in the way
listenlive.co streams the audio. Back when Emmis Radio owned the
station, the local St Louis ads were deleted from the stream to be
replaced by public service announcements, ads for national
corporations or ads targeted at me wherever my VPN told them i was
listening from, and often with a completely inappropriate song
included. Now, the insertion of a song is no longer, and i get the
local ads. This week: O'Reilly's Auto Parts, One-Eleven Storage, The
Goodfeet Store (with a branch in Shiloh, Illinois!), Motor City Auto
Sales, Ramjack Of St Louis, Metro Lighting etc. I love listening to
these ads – so exotic -- and i positively hated some of the songs
so i applaud this change. Thanks, Hubbard!

years. Prior to Saturday, the only Wal-Mart i'd ever set foot in was
in Belleville, Illinois....
